How long have we been telling you all to get along to the Space:Garage bar/club in the Riga district of Andrejsala? Too long. And how many of you have listened? Not nearly enough. You’ve been lazing around in your trendy Berlin kiez, tripping out at dayclubs until the afternoon, sleeping in parks in the sunshine, waiting for the world to come to you – haven’t you? Well, your tactic worked.

Riga’s Space:Garage crew visited Berlin’s ZMF bar on Friday April 25 for a special “Riga Party”, organized by our friends at Pixelfestival. Unfortunately the venue wasn’t nearly as authentically cramped, steamy, sexy and trashy as Andrejsala, the dockside squat where the DJs normally play. But then again, nothing could match the atmosphere of Space:Garage on a Friday night.

The DJs played killer electro-techno tunes, though it took the crowd a little while to warm up to the music. By the early morning the dance floor was packed and worshiping the DJs — ZeDmitry, Hencha and Ivars Mednis, all part of the Space:Garage FuckForFriendship collective. VJ Linard Kulless tripped us out with his mad visual displays. We even spotted a few of our friends from Andrejsala’s Singalong Hostel in the crowd.

ZeDmitry and his friends have been making regular excursions out of Riga to spread the word about their sweaty little venue. They recently performed at Bronx Club in Minsk, Belarus, and will hopefully tour to other beastly venues in the coming months.

The biggest downer from the party was our photography! B EAST’s Joel Alas attempted to take some crazed party pics, but is clearly a better writer than photographer.
